Character Artist Alex Velazquez to Launch Kickstarter to Fund Line of Dungeons & Dragons 3D Prints

Alex Velazquez is a professional character artist, and for the last 15 years he’s worked on video game titles like Saints Row, Doom 4, Red Faction, and Wolfenstein. The winner of a number of industry awards, Velazquez is a lead character artist at BioWare Austin, and he’s launching a Kickstarter campaign to create an art toy line with what he calls “a darker fantasy aesthetic.”

What Things May Come: 3D Printing is the Topic of Southwestern University Symposium/Sculpture Exhibit

As 3D printing’s availability grows it also captures more attention from researchers who weigh the pros and cons of the profound shifts that the technology can have in science, medicine, manufacturing, the arts — and beyond. Southwestern University Professor of Art Mary Hale Visser has been interested in 3D printing for a while, and she has organized a 3D printing educational symposium and art exhibit (with an international twist) on her Georgetown, Texas campus beginning February 4.

MCAD’s “Beyond the Buzz” Digital Fabrication Exhibit Featuring 3D Printed Art Opens Today

While there is much emphasis on the technical side of 3D printing, as we tend to be enamored by all things technological these days, the stunning visual displays facilitated by 3D printing is also rather enamoring. And today, January 20, 2015, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) will be opening up its exhibit highlighting the wonders of digitally fabricated art in their show “Beyond the Buzz: New Forms, Realities, and Environments in Digital Fabrication.” This show features many artists using 3D printing in their artwork to stunning visual ends.
