3D Systems und Voxeljet – wie geht`s eigentlich?

Wir erinnern uns ein Jahr zurück! Die Analysten überschlugen sich mit Kurszielen für den 3D-Drucksektor, das Potenzial der Branche konnte gar nicht hoch genug eingeschätzt werden und viele Medien zählten auf, wo überall 3D-Druck in Zukunft unser Leben verändern wird. Selbst die BILD-Zeitung thematisierte die Branche – ein sicheres Indiz, dass die Rally überhitzt war. So kam völlig zwangsläufig die Korrektur auch in den 3D-Druckzertifikaten, waren die Papiere doch zuvor brillant gelaufen, aber eben auch verdammt schnell nach oben geschossen. Gegenwärtig ist es ruhig geworden und dies ist die zweite Chance für Investoren, die in den Bereich hinein wollen. Denn jetzt gibt es die Zertifikate fast zur Hälfte des Höchstkurses – und kaum einer spricht drüber.

Huge Surprise: Controversial botObjects is Acquired by 3D Systems: Technology to be integrated with new CubePro® C Printer

In what could be seen as quite a shocker within the 3D printing space, but could also go a long way in solidifying 3D Systems’ consumer/prosumer 3D printing portion of their business, the company announced today that they have acquired botObjects. For those familiar with the 3D printing space, this announcement has to come as a bit of a surprise.

25 micron mixed color printing video ProDesk3D from last year

This video was taken last year with the ProDesk3D printing at 175 mm/s, with the video accelerated at certain points for the purpose of summarization. We also used this as another chance to preview our translucent PLA colors, that we mixed to create the beautiful floral vase.

– Announces collaboration with The Culinary Institute of America for education, development, and deployment
– Establishes beta program run by The Culinary Institute of America for 3DS’ professional line of food 3D printers
– Expands The Sugar Lab to include fellowship and internship programs for The Culinary Institute of America faculty and students

ROCK HILL, South Carolina, December 30, 2014 – 3D Systems (NYSE:DDD) announced today a partnership with The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to provide faculty and students the opportunity to explore the intersection of 3D printed food and artisan culinary methods. Together, 3DS and the CIA plan to develop a series of educational collaborations and commence a beta program for the ChefJetTM Pro culinary 3D printer.

“Our collaboration with the CIA provides the culinary community with a unique opportunity to explore and experience the open-ended possibilities of fusing 3D food printing with traditional culinary arts,” said Avi Reichental, President and CEO, 3DS. “Together we plan to advance culinary arts through education, exploration, and experimentation by introducing 3D printing into the professional kitchen.”

3D Systems Will Not Be 3D Printing Google’s Project Ara Smartphone Modules, At Least Not for Now

Late last year it was reported that Google would be working closely with 3D Systems in order to print out the modules for their upcoming Project Ara smartphone. For those who are unaware what Project Ara is, it’s essentially a smartphone which runs off of several modules. There’s a module for the screen, one for the battery, another for the camera, and so on. By making the phone modular, Google hopes to transform the smartphone industry, allowing users to customize and upgrade their phones as they see fit.
