Sigma Labs Awarded Phase II DARPA Contract with Honeywell Aerospace for Metal 3D Printing Technologies

DARPA (that is, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) was founded in 1958 and maintains a mission to ‘prevent strategic surprise’ from interfering with the security of the US, as well as to maintain the ‘technological superiority of the US military.’ DARPA represents the Department of Defense’s ‘primary innovation engine’ and works hard to keep the US on top of its game. Scientific research and a whole lot of research and development are needed across the board in a world that’s growing more technologically advanced almost by the minute.

Sigma Labs to 3D Print Metal Parts Commercially

Sigma Labs, Inc. (SGLB), has announced plans to move beyond their previous business of developing quality inspection systems for metal 3D printing, to commercial 3D printing itself. This month, the company will receive a new M290 metal 3D printer from EOS and, by the end of November, the company plans to complete the installation of their PrintRite3D® quality assurance system onto the machine. With their new machine, equipped with PrintRite3D®, Sigma Labs will begin fulfilling requests for 3D printed metal components.

SIGMA LABS SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL, INC. FOR HONEYWELL TO BE BETA TEST SITE FOR SIGMA LABS‘ NEW PRINTRITE3D® DEFORM™ SOFTWARE

SANTA FE, N.M., May 6, 2014 — Sigma Labs, Inc. (OTCBB: SGLB), a developer of advanced, in-process, non-destructive quality inspection systems for metal-based additive manufacturing or 3D printing and other advanced manufacturing technologies, today announced it has signed a Trial Evaluation Agreement with Honeywell International, Inc. (NYSE: HON). The agreement sets forth the parties‘ intent to use Honeywell’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Center as a beta test site for its latest PrintRite3D® DEFORM™ software module for metal-based additive manufacturing.

Mark Cola, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Labs, stated that, “We believe that the signing of this Honeywell agreement, along with previous agreements with major North American Aerospace customers, are significant steps in achieving our 2014 development goals. Further, we believe that following, and as a result of, beta testing at Honeywell over the next several months, a product launch for our PrintRite3D® DEFORM™ software will be accelerated. Lastly, we believe that our complete suite of PrintRite3D® software for metal additive manufacturing would enable OEMs like Honeywell to more quickly achieve process certification with enhanced process reliability.“
